Frequently Asked Questions
1
Do I have to enter my items at the same time as registration?
No. The registration deadline is separate from the inventory lock deadline. You will have plenty of time between registration and inventory lock to enter your items into the database. Please check the seller schedule for the inventory lock date for the current sale.
2
Can I print my tags on cardstock?
No. Gear Up requires string tags for our event. You can find the specific type of string tag needed on our Seller Supplies list.
3
Can I use a tagging gun instead of safety pins?
Yes. As long as the tag is securely attached to the item and easily removable by Gear Up staff, a tagging gun works great.
4
When do I drop off my items?
Once you register, you will have access to the seller portal where you can make a drop-off appointment. You must have a drop-off appointment and will not be allowed to drop off items without one, so be sure to register and select your appointment time as soon as possible.
5
How do I know how much to price my items for?
Gear Up has a pricing guide in the Pricing Guide and Tagging 101 section of our website. The guide shows how to price items by category type and can help you choose prices that make sense for your items.
6
How many items can I sell?
Each seller registration allows for 150 items to be tagged under that seller number.
7
Can I sell items with holes or stains?
No. Gear Up does not accept clothing items with holes or stains.
However, we do accept functional items that only have cosmetic damage, such as a stroller with scratches. Please price your items to reflect the condition of the product.
8
Do you take big kid items or adult sizes?
Yes. Gear Up accepts items that serve ages 0 to teen, and this may include adult-size clothing for teens.
However, adult-size clothing must be teen- and kid-focused. Athletic wear like Lululemon and Nike is a great example of clothing that comes in adult sizes but is still commonly worn by teens.
Examples of clothing brands we would not accept include Chico’s, White House Black Market, and Joseph A. Bank.

What do I get with my First Pick Family Pass Pre Sale ticket?
Each First Pick Family Pass Pre Sale ticket admits two people into the event.
This ticket gives you access to shop before the public sale, which means you get first access to a better selection and great deals. The event will also include giveaways such as gift cards, free registration at future events and more!
Only 100 tickets will be sold, so First Pick Family Pass shoppers can enjoy a more peaceful shopping experience without fighting the crowds during shopping or checkout.
10
What happens to my items if they do not sell? Can I have them back?
All unsold items will be donated to the DuPage Regional Office of Education’s Parents as Teachers Program.
As a seller, once you drop off your items at the sale, you are done. You do not need to come back to pick up unsold items.
11
What percentage of my sales do I keep?
Gear Up sellers pay a $15 registration fee and then they keep 65% of their sales.
12
How and when will I get paid?
Gear Up pays sellers through Zelle using the name and phone number listed in your seller profile. Our goal is for sellers to receive payment no more than 4 days after the event. Please make sure your seller profile information is accurate and connected to the Zelle account where you want to receive payment.
13
Do I need to stay at the event while my items sell?
No. Once you tag your items and drop them off at your scheduled appointment, Gear Up handles the shopping event, checkout, and sale operations. You do not need to be present while your items sell.
14
Will my items be discounted during the sale?
Yes. All items are included in the half-price sale on the final day. There is no opt-out option, so please price your items with the final-day discount in mind.
