One of the most common questions we hear from sellers is:

“What should I bring?”

The best items to sell are clean, gently used children’s items that families are excited to buy. But some items tend to perform especially well at Gear Up events.

Here are 5 types of items we recommend sellers focus on.

1. High-Ticket Items

Larger, more expensive items are often great sellers because families love finding them at a better price than buying new.

Great examples include:

  • Strollers

  • Wagons

  • Bikes

  • Scooters

  • Ride-on toys

  • Play houses

  • Play kitchens

  • Workbenches

  • Children’s desks

  • Baby gear

  • Furniture

These items can be expensive at full retail, so shoppers are often excited to find them gently used and ready for a new home.

2. Seasonal Items

Seasonal items are popular because families are shopping for what their kids need right now or very soon.

For a fall sale, great seasonal items include:

  • Halloween costumes

  • Winter coats

  • Snow pants

  • Boots

  • Cold-weather gear

  • Holiday outfits

Kids outgrow seasonal items quickly, so shoppers love finding these pieces at family-friendly prices.

3. Clean, Complete Toys

Toys can sell very well when they are clean, organized, and complete.

Before selling toys, make sure important pieces are included. If the toy uses batteries, test it first. If it has small parts, keep them grouped together securely.

Popular toy categories include pretend play, building toys, puzzles, learning toys, dolls, trucks, trains, and outdoor toys.

4. Clothing in Great Condition

Children’s clothing can sell well, but condition and pricing matter.

The best clothing items are clean, free of stains, seasonally appropriate, and priced competitively.

Current-season clothing, coats, costumes, holiday outfits, and quality brands in excellent condition are more likely to catch a shopper’s eye.

5. Items You Would Be Excited to Buy

Before bringing an item to Gear Up, ask yourself:

  • Would I buy this for my child?

  • Is it clean?

  • Is it complete?

  • Is it priced like a good deal?

  • Is it useful for the current season?

If the answer is yes, it is probably a great fit for the sale.

The best Gear Up items are useful, clean, fairly priced, and ready for another family to enjoy.
