5 Ways Gear Up Is Different From Other Buy/Sell Events

If you have sold or shopped at other children’s consignment sales before, you may be wondering how Gear Up is different.

Gear Up works in a familiar way: sellers prepare and tag their items, drop them off before the sale, shoppers come to buy, and sellers get paid for what sells.

But Gear Up does a few things differently.

1. Sellers Earn MORE!

At many children’s resale events, sellers keep around 60% of their sales.

At Gear Up, sellers keep 65%.

Because Gear Up is privately owned and does not have franchise fees, we are able to pass a little more revenue back to the families selling with us.

We know it takes time to gather, clean, tag, and prepare your items. Our goal is to make that effort worthwhile.

2. We Are Starting Smaller

Gear Up is a new event, which means our first sales will likely be smaller than some of the larger, more established sales in the area.

For sellers, that can mean less competition.

For shoppers, that can mean a less overwhelming shopping experience.

As we grow, our goal is to create an event that feels organized, friendly, and easy to navigate.

3. All Unsold Items Are Donated

At Gear Up, all unsold items are donated to a local family-focused charity.

This helps keep inventory fresh and encourages sellers to price items to sell the first time.

It also means your items can continue helping local families, even if they do not sell during the event.

4. Every Item Can Sell at Half Price

At some other sales, only certain items are included in the discount portion of the event.

At Gear Up, every item has the opportunity to sell at full price and then at 50% off during half-off day.

That gives each item two chances to sell at two different price points.

5. We Encourage Smart Pricing

You can price your items however you choose, but we generally recommend pricing most gently used children’s items around 75% off retail.

There are exceptions, of course. New-in-box items and high-ticket items like a Wonderfold Wagon, BOB stroller, Guardian bike, or similar premium item may be priced higher.

Our goal is simple: help sellers earn money while giving shoppers prices that feel like a great deal.

Gear Up was created to be simple, transparent, and community-focused. We want families to feel good about selling, shopping, and supporting one another.
